Senior Backend Developer

We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join our fintech client's engineering team. The role focuses on building and operating production-grade Java services together with the DevOps tooling around them.

AI-assisted development is part of the team's day-to-day work, and experience integrating AI features into production applications is a welcome advantage.

Required experience and skills:

• Senior-level ownership, sound engineering judgment, and experience with Agile software development.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and object-oriented design concepts.
• Java 17 or newer and Spring Boot 3.x.
• Microservices experience, including clean service boundaries, inter-service contracts, and resilience patterns.
• REST principles and RESTful web services, as well as SOAP web services.
• REST API documentation with OpenAPI.
• Relational databases, especially MySQL, and solid SQL fundamentals.
• JPA/Hibernate and database migrations with Liquibase.
• Secure authentication and authorization using OAuth 2.0 and JWT.
• Integration and component testing, including Testcontainers.
• Maven, Git, and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• AWS cloud platform and Docker.
• Production observability using logging, metrics, and tracing.
• Effective use of AI assistants for coding, code review, refactoring, and test generation.
• Pragmatic, outcome-focused approach, with a preference for clean and maintainable design over quick fixes.
• Comfort giving and receiving feedback in code reviews and working as a strong team player.
• Security-minded approach to software development.
• English at B2 level or higher.

Nice to have:

• WebFlux and reactive Spring.
• NoSQL technologies, including AWS DynamoDB and S3.
• Groovy and Spock for testing.
• Postman.
• Scripting with Bash or Python.
• Dynatrace, Splunk, or CloudWatch.
• Jira and Confluence.
• Containers and serverless infrastructure beyond Docker, such as ECS or Lambda.
• Experience integrating AI features into production applications.
